One of my favorite events at the Walt Disney World Resort is Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party. This was our third year going, and I planned a few weeks ahead of time with our costumes. We decided to dress as Beauty and the Beast. Our kids are 4.5 years old and 19 months old to give you an idea that the party is just fine for most little ones! The biggest challenge is keeping them awake for all the fun!

• Belle: Dress from The Disney Store
• Beast: Outfit by LoopsyBaby (Etsy store is in Puerto Rico so she’s now on hiatus 🙁
• Mrs Potts: I paired a LuLaRoe Amelia dress with an apron/cap I used for a maid costume! I added a handmade necklace from Allibead Creations with a Mrs. Potts/Chip charm. I had THREE Cast Members say they never saw a Mrs. Potts which was surprising.
• Cogsworth: With the Florida heat and humidity comfort was key for all of us. So instead of a costume, the hubby wore a t-shirt he got on Amazon.

I made sure we were ready to go with the kids taking naps that day, getting dressed and ensuring we had our treat bags ready to go. The park does supply small bags, but I like our cute ones instead. We went on Friday, September 22. This worked well for us for a few reasons. 1) it was a non-peak day 2) We didn’t mind if the kids were up late since the next day was Saturday.

We arrived shortly after 6 pm after my hubby got off work. Party go-ers are allowed to enter the park beginning at 4 p.m. without using a day of your pass/ticket. (If you’re an annual passholder like we are, this is a non-issue, but those without passes, it’s a nice perk to the party ticket). Party-goers receive a wristband and off you go! The Halloween music, characters in costume, trick or treating etc begin at 7 pm, so this is a good time to get those non-Halloween items done such as rides (you can get Fast Passes between 4-6:30), or getting dinner out of the way. We opted to take some Photopass photos:

We examined the brochure ahead of time and I knew our priorities going in, You can’t do it all in one night, so we knew we would concentrate on party-exclusive events such as HalloWishes, characters in costume and the Boo to You! parade.

When we entered the Magic Kingdom, they directed us to a side entrance in the park, behind Main Street that had a fun entrance way, treat bins and PhotoPass photographers.

We headed to stand in line for Pooh and Friends. Here, all four characters are in costume. We lined up at 6:30 for a 7 p.m. start time.

Then we headed to meet Gaston along with Belle (blue dress) since we haven’t met him before, and Belle was with him (usually it’s just Gaston in that area since Belle is doing her thing in Enchanted Tales). Also, since that was our costume themeing, this was a must-do for us.

While the hubby waited in line, I took the kids to two treat stations. One was inside Pinocchio’s Village Haus and one in Mickey’s Philharmagic. There were a few bins in Mickey’s Philharmagic, so that was a good stop. Treat stops are designated by large, lighted signs.

Side note: I miss the treat trail alongside Mickey’s railroad/near Space Mountain. That was a fun one to let the kids toddle ahead in front of us. I hope they bring it back!

After, we headed to grab some food at Pecos Bill. Along the way, we did the treat trail near the Haunted Mansion.

After we ate a quick dinner, we went out the side entrance to avoid 9:15 p.m. parade traffic and found a spooky photos location!

We then rode Pirates of the Caribbean with no wait, and after visited the Tiki room treat trail, we headed towards the castle plaza to get ready for the evening shows.

We got a good spot for the Happy HalloWishes Fireworks Show. This is a can’t miss show in my book. Normally fireworks are around the castle, but for HalloWishes, they extend out from the castle, almost giving you 180 degrees of fireworks. It’s a show that even as a local, driving home the other night, made me say “wow!!!” when the sky lit up.

We then moved closer to see the Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular show (my daughter’s new favorite movie!) and get a spot for the 11:15 p.m. Boo to You! Parade.

I love the Boo to You! Parade. It’s a great mix of classic and spooky characters. The grave diggers are a crowd favorite and the Candy Rush segment smells sooo sweet!

The treats and merchandise at MNSSHP are amazing. I bought a few pins as well as a Mickey pumpkin for our entryway. With 2 small kids, I didn’t want to add more sugar to the mix, so we didn’t experience any of the MNSSHP treats in the bakery sadly.

After, the kids had enough energy to go to Haunted Mansion and we walked right on at 11:45 p.m. much to our daughter’s delight! (She loves the no windows and no doors part!)

As the park was closing, we headed to the gift shops along Main Street and took some photos along Main Street including the spooky one at the top of this post. Thank goodness for that afternoon nap–the kids lasted all night with not many fussy moments! We took the monorail back to our car where the kids finally passed out and made it home by 1:30 a.m.  I am looking forward to next year’s party already!
